The Long Flight

So after a long flight, that was only 15.5 hours instead of the 17 we originally thought, we landed in Singapore Changi Airport. Since we flew business class, Kevin and I both had a very enjoyable flight, however we didn’t sleep! We both find it hard to sleep on planes.

We flew Singapore Airlines from Los Angeles and from start to finish, the staff and the plane ride was amazing. First, we got to go to a Star Alliance lounge before takeoff, where we had breakfast and coffee until it was time to board. It was a nice big lounge with lots of seating to wait until boarding.

10:45 rolled around and we were boarding! When we got on the plane, the air stewards, looked at our ticket and asked us to confirm how we say our names so that they would know and be able to call us by our names throughout the flight. Since I didn’t change my name yet, I told them that I was actually Mrs. Birns, and that it was Kevin and I’s honeymoon. All of the air stewards immediately started calling me Mrs. Birns and said congratulations. This was both of our first time flying business class so we were super impressed with how much room there was, storage, and how big the screens were.

The night before leaving, Kevin (at the last minute), checked the seat plan and saw that the first seat by the window, was actually available. That seat actually has extra leg room, and so he moved himself up and I moved up a seat behind him. We decided we both wanted window seats so didn’t sit next to each other. After boarding, the air steward went around and offered champagne, and I had a mimosa.

We were off in the air in no time and soon after I started a movie (there were so many to choose from). We had lunch first and that consisted of a shrimp appetizer with crab and a bread roll. Then I had prawns with rice and vegetables. After there was a cheese platter and ice cream! Everything was delicious. Kevin had the steak and also said how good it was. Not too long after that, many people on the plane went to sleep. Kevin and I just continued to watch movies. I watched another move and thent tried to sleep. During the second movie, the air stewards saw that I was up and they would come around and continue to ask if I wanted anything to drink and then one time she brought me water and nuts and a hershey’s bar. Then later on, the air steward came around to everyone who was still awake and had a tray of potatoe chips, kit kats, and other snacks for those that were up to have. They also had a huge menu to choose from as well and you could order whatever type of drinks or snacks.

A little while later, the air steward asked Kevin and I to go to the galley, where they surprised us with a tray of ice cream, with lights, and Singapore Airlines bears, and champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. The staff was just amazing and so nice. One of the air stewards even wrote down lots of suggestions of where we should go in Singapore.

With about 7 hours to go we had another meal- this time I had crab ravioli and Kevin had prawns; also delicious. Afterwards we both tried to sleep. I woke up with about 3.5 hours to go and Kevin not too long after that.

Once we landed, we went through immigration and customs. It didn’t take long, but you do have to fingerprint your thumbs upon arrival. We got a Grab (their version of Lyft and Uber) and were on our way to the beautiful St. Regis Hotel. Once we got in, we tried to stay awake until it was our normal bed time, but we each passed out around 9:30om.

  2. I so agree with everything Sylvia said. A honeymoon is something you should remember, and the two of you definitely
will have a memory, and it has only just begun!
